Refurbishment at the Imperial War Museum, a Grade II Listed building that sits within a Conservation Area in Southwark. The enabling works facilitated the creation of the Lord Ashcroft Gallery, a new exhibition space for the museum’s collection of Victoria and George Crosses.

The project focused on the environmental performance of the gallery for comfort of visitors, which was achieved by upgrading the servicing strategy and improving the air-tightness and thermal insulation of the building fabric.

Works included a new air handling unit, assisted by a passive ventilation solution, a replacement glazed south gable wall creating a solar conservatory, new services to the gallery and internal fit-out finishes coordinated for the new exhibition.

These works specifically included strip out, new insulation, stretched fabric ceiling lining incorporating acoustic panels, timber floors, new partitions, glass doors, replacement glazing and external balustrades. We undertook extensive alterations and installation of new mechanical and electrical services, including new external plant.
