Education - Essex Primary School

Previous Arrow Next Arrow

Essex Primary School was originally built by Jerram Falkus in the 1970’s and we were therefore delighted to have this opportunity to return to the school to carry out major refurbishment and extension works.

The project works are multi-phased to reduce the impact on the occupied areas of the nursery, infant and junior schools, and we have provided an eight-class temporary building to facilitate a complex series of decants.

Construction works include demolition of the existing single storey school kitchens, and the construction of a two-storey block with kitchens at ground level and staff rooms and offices over. Classrooms are remodeled to provide enlarged teaching spaces with external access and modern facilities. New WC’s, offices and stores are provided.

The existing Junior School hall is extended to provide a greater facility for games, exercise and performances as well as assemblies and external events.

The entire Junior School is refurbished to provide a more aesthetically pleasing appearance, upgraded insulation and renewable energy provision from solar thermal heating and photo-voltaic panels on the roof.

New gas fired central heating is provided to the entire school, replacing the original electrically heated installation.

Externally, new play and activity areas are provided, along with security fencing, playgrounds and increased car parking.
