The £20m project has provided a new five form entry primary school just off the High Street in Hounslow. This reinforced concrete framed, brick clad school building will be part two and part three storey, and is located on land adjacent to the existing school. Once completed, the existing school will be demolished and part of that site landscaped as school playground and sports facilities.
 
There is SEN provision within the new build school which has been fit out to the normal classroom standard. The school will now fit-out with specialist equipment as required. The external Staff Terrace will become an outdoor area for SEN use, which has a glass balustrade to increase the height of the parapet which will allow students to play safely in this area.
 
As the school is directly under the Heathrow flight path, It cannot be naturally ventilated due to external noise constraints Instead it must be fully mechanically ventilated via VRF ceiling concealed fan coil units. Using IES software, a fully compliant design solution has been produced which takes into account over-shading analysis and daylight assessments in calculating the heating and cooling loads, in order that cooling is only provided where absolutely necessary. Once the school building is complete and students and staff have fully decanted into the building our client, Countryside Properties PLC will then develop the remainder of the site to provide 250 mixed tenure homes.
