Education - Cleves Primary School

Previous Arrow Next Arrow

The expansion will see the construction of an additional six classrooms in a new two-storey building, along with a room for group work and toilet accommodation, within the footprint of the school’s existing car park. The new block will be linked to the existing school building via a covered walkway. A DDA compliant passenger lift will provide accessibility to the first floor.
Existing wings at the school will receive some refurbishment to increase classroom sizes.

The building’s structure is of cross laminated timber, a timber solution with inherently low embodied carbon. Photovoltaic panels will be included on the south facing roof. The six new 70m² classrooms will have direct access to the playground, and the building will provide 550m2 of accommodation.  The new accommodation will free up space in the existing building
for profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) and special educational needs (SEN) provision.

The construction management plan will deliver the off-site constructed CLT on a ‘just-intime’ basis with the site planning deliveries  to avoid construction related traffic congestion.Deliveries will avoid pupil drop off and collection times.
