Education - Menorah Foundation School

Previous Arrow Next Arrow

Jerram Falkus secured this project after the previous Main Contractor ceased trading part way through the groundworks package. We were able to salvage some of the work undertaken prior to our appointment having established its integrity.

Foundations were mass concrete pads and reinforced ground beams with a suspended reinforced concrete ground floor and frame above, including the roof deck. To accommodate a change in site level, we constructed a reinforced concrete retaining wall at one end of the new building adjacent to the public highway.

The building was clad using Terra Cotta rainscreen cladding on an insulated Metsec inner framing system, with composite timber/aluminium windows with integral louvres for natural cross ventilation.

The building comprises eight general use classrooms, SEN/Group Rooms and a centralized Library with an elevated roof and clerestorey glazing. Exposed fair faced concrete soffites with suspended raft lighting provide a contemporary feel.

Underfloor heating is from gas fired boilers. Brise Soleil is used for solar shading on the south facing elevation.
